Well, there’s no snow in the Village of Yesteryear for this year’s Christmas in the Village. So what? Maybe some like it better in the warmer temperatures! the Steele County Historical Society hosts their annual event on Friday, December 3, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, December 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Likewise: Here are 7 MUST-DO holiday events in Owatonna [hint: Several of them are this week/weekend.]
FANCY COOKIES – RECEIVE FAST
Already before Christmas in the village starts, stop by the Steele County History Center to pick up some goodies at the Fancy Cookie sale. This goes on Wednesday, December 1, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday, December 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or until the biscuits are sold out! (If I were you, I wouldn’t wait until the last minute.)
SANTA and WIFE. KLAUS
On Friday, stroll the lighthouse-lit Village grounds and see Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Find the decorated Christmas tree in the general store, where kids can find handicrafts to take away and a postcard to send to Santa Claus.
Stroll through the crown jewel of yesterday’s village, Dunnel House, where every room is decorated for the holidays.
EXHIBITIONS IN THE HISTORY CENTER
While you are in the village for Christmas, the Steele County Historical Society invites you to attend the Country School, Parochial School, and American Legion exhibits on display. There is also a handicraft shop in the Wenger room.
The Historic Society’s Holiday Lights Cruise will continue throughout the Christmas season. Get a list for $ 10 at the History Center, Prairie Home in Blooming Prairie, or Lerberg’s Foods in Ellendale.
