Bostock New Zealand and Tony Fruit celebrate the arrival of fruit with a big launch event

New-season organic Dazzle apples grown in New Zealand have landed in Vietnam.

To celebrate the arrival of the fruit, a launch event was held at Aeon Mall in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday (May 28).

New Zealand Trade and Business Commissioner (NZTE) Joe Nelson attended the celebration and officially launched the organic Dazzle campaign by cutting a ceremonial ribbon.

The event was organized by New Zealand’s largest grower, packer and exporter of organic apples, Bostock New Zealand, and Vietnam’s leading fruit importer, Tony Fruit. The pair have teamed up to supply organic Dazzle apples to Vietnamese consumers this season.

Bostock New Zealand international market manager Jane Maclean said it’s exciting to have organic dazzle firmly in the spotlight.

“Last year’s promotions were canceled due to the Covid outbreak, so it’s great to be able to officially launch our organic Dazzle apple this season,” said Maclean.

“Dazzle is a strain we developed specifically for the Asian market with its sweet, crunchy and delicious taste.

“Besides the amazing eating qualities, Dazzle has a strong, appealing brand; something that has allowed Bostock and Tony Fruit to stand out from the many other apples on the market and successfully entice new Vietnamese consumers to try Dazzle apples.”

After a successful inaugural season with organic dazzle in 2021, Tony Fruit plans to commercialize larger volumes of the fruit this year.

“It’s great to see the increased volume of organic Dazzle apples being shipped to Vietnam this season to meet growing demand in our retail and distribution channels,” said a Tony Fruit representative.

“This is the second year of Tony Fruit’s partnership with Bostock New Zealand for Bio-Dazzle and we appreciate their full trust and confidence in moving to exclusive distribution this season. Early arrivals from Bio-Dazzle have been selling heavily across Vietnam.”

Bostock New Zealand opened an office in Vietnam in 2018. The company’s market representative in Vietnam, Nguyen Huong, said demand for organic apples has increased over the past two years.

“Vietnamese consumers are placing greater focus and priority on their personal health and food safety, and as more retailers shift to stocking organic products, organic is becoming more accessible and widely available for the average consumer,” Huong said.

Dazzle organic packaging

The Bostock family have been growing organic apples in New Zealand for over 25 years.

Maclean said the company is keen to keep up with the growing global demand for organic products and to educate consumers about the category.

“Organic apples are grown naturally without the use of chemicals or synthetic fertilizers,” she explained. “When you choose an organic Bostock apple, you are looking for the safest, healthiest choice for your body.

“By not using conventional sprays, our apples are not always cosmetically perfect. While organic apples can sometimes have more cosmetic flaws, they are nutritious and full of flavor and just as gorgeous, if not better, in their eating experience.”

Bostock New Zealand has also invested in compostable stickers for its organic apple offering. Dazzle’s organic apples also use recyclable cardboard trays.

“Our biodegradable Dazzle stickers aren’t plastic; They are made from plant-based materials and are compostable. Our sustainable packaging for our organic Dazzle apples makes a real difference for Bostock New Zealand,” said MacLean.
