World Asthma Day 2022: Asthma is a respiratory disease in which the airways narrow and swell, making it difficult to breathe. For reasons ranging from environmental factors to genetic factors, asthma triggers coughing, shortness of breath, and difficulty breathing. Medical treatments for asthma include the use of inhalers. However, there are also a number of fruits and vegetables that can help relieve asthma symptoms.

In an interview with HT Lifestyle, HP Bharathi, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Jindal Naturecure Institutes, noted which fruits and vegetables should be consumed to reduce asthma symptoms.

Paprika/beta-carotene: Peppers are rich in vitamin C, peppers are high in antioxidants and phytonutrients that contribute to good health.

pomegranates: High in fiber, vitamin C and vitamin K, and antioxidants, pomegranates help prevent or delay cell damage.

apples: They are high in fiber and antioxidants. They help with weight loss and promote intestinal health. Apples also help prevent chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.

Green beans: Green beans are loaded with vitamins A, C, and K, as well as folic acid, calcium, and fiber. They are important for maintaining strong, healthy bones and reducing the risk of fractures. Vitamin B in green beans also helps in reducing depression.

Ginger: Rich in antioxidants, it helps prevent stress and damage to the body’s DNA. It also helps fight chronic conditions like high blood pressure, heart disease, and lung diseases. It helps in promoting healthy aging.

spinach: This superfood contains protein, iron, vitamins, minerals, potassium, magnesium, vitamin K, fiber, phosphorus, thiamine and vitamin E. It is important for skin, hair and bone health. It also helps in reducing asthma symptoms.

tomato juice: It is loaded with vitamin C, B vitamins and potassium. A rich source of antioxidants like lycopene, it helps reduce the risk of heart disease and some cancers.

orange: Packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, they’re a treasure trove of nutrients. It is also rich in vitamin C and folic acid.

avocado: Avocados are high in healthy fats and fiber, magnesium, B6, vitamin C, vitamin E, folic acid. They help prevent respiratory diseases.
